Danie van der Merwe, an presenter, actor, musician and currently breakfast presenter for Radio Helderberg 93.6fm. Not only does he have a voice, but he completed his BCom degree in Risk Management at the North West University, formerly known as the Potchefstroom University of Christian Higher Education (NWU), in 2007 specialising in risk management, economics, business management and management accountancy. Danie was elected Student Council of the NWU with portfolio: Media and Communication, of which his responsibilities included the management of PUK-FM radio and this is where his love for radio and journalism found its origin. After completion of his degree, Danie was appointed as the production and stage manager, sound and lighting engineer of the theatre production “Kringe in ‘n Bos” (written by Dalene Matthee) that was performed in various theaters throughout the country and acted as manager for “Flip-a-Coin”, well-known Acapella singing group. He then completed his Drama/TV-acting course in 2010 presented by well-known actress and TV-diva, Bru milda van Rensburg and since acted in short-films (“The Soldier” by Tamsin Greeff and “The Fisher” by Olwethu Tancu produced by Media Village, Durbanville), music videos and theater productions like “Jou Move” currently showing in theaters. For several outdoor events and festivals, Danie acted as MC and in 2013, he recorded his first single “Drifter”, which was play-listed on Radio Sonder Grense. With two Comrades Marathons behind him, Danie is always willing to sweat a few drops in support of charities like Masikule for which he raised funds participating in the Cape Town Marathon in 2015.

In 2013, Danie was appointed by Kaapland Films to manage the marketing of the film and coordinate the Klein Karoo roadshow, where they liaised with various towns to screen the film. Due to the lack of movie theaters in close proximity of smaller towns in South Africa, a large amount of people never gets to see the new films and therefore decided to take the film to numerous towns.
